Use Your Own Phone Number for Incoming and Outbound Calls

Your Verified Phone Number lets you use your own business or personal phone number with Sonik.ai.

Once verified, this number can be used for two different purposes:

  • Receive incoming calls from your Sonik.ai numbers on your own phone.

  • Display your own phone number when making outbound calls from the Sonik.ai Dialer.

This is particularly useful if you're calling existing customers, inbound leads, or prospects who already recognize your phone number.

⚠️ Important: Even when your own phone number is displayed as the caller ID, outbound calls are still placed through Sonik.ai infrastructure. These calls are not billed by your mobile or telephone provider. You will not incur additional phone charges by using your own number as the outbound caller ID.

Why use a Verified Phone Number?

A Verified Phone Number offers two key benefits:

1. Receive incoming calls on your own phone

When someone calls one of your Sonik.ai phone numbers, the call is automatically forwarded to your verified phone number.

This allows you to answer inbound calls directly on your usual device without sharing your personal number publicly.

2. Display your own number on outbound calls

Instead of displaying one of your Sonik.ai phone numbers, you can choose to display your verified phone number when calling from the Dialer.

This is especially useful when:

  • calling existing customers

  • following up with inbound leads

  • contacting prospects who already know your number

  • increasing answer rates by showing a familiar caller ID

How to verify your phone number

  1. Open the Dialer.

  2. Go to Call Settings.

  3. Enter your phone number in the Verified Phone Number field using the international format.

  4. Click Verify.

  5. Choose how you want to receive your verification code:

    • SMS

    • Voice call

  6. If you also want to use this number for outbound calls, make sure to check:

    "Register this number for outbound calls"
    ​

  7. Request the verification code.

  8. Enter the code you receive.
    ​

  9. Click Verify.

Additional verification for outbound calls

If you checked "Register this number for outbound calls", there is one additional security step.

After entering your verification code:

  1. You will receive an automated phone call.

  2. During the call, you'll be asked to enter the code displayed on your screen.

  3. Once completed, click Done.

Your phone number is now fully verified for both incoming and outbound calls.
